Halloween 2012

Today was Lex's first Halloween!  We debated a little about whether or not to dress her up this year, but I am so glad we did.  It was a day full of fun memories for our little family!

Alexis and I visited Daddy and his co-workers at the hospital
We got to spend some time with the cousins...Peyton was Bumblebee, Zaya was Optimus Prime, and Lill was a princess!:)
We visited Grandma and Grandpa Hall!
Our sweet petunia looked SO cute dressed up as a flower!:)
Lex hung out with Aunt Michele and Uncle Shane!
Our last stop was at Grandma and Grandpa Campbell's house!

Lex did so well today!  We had a busy day that started out with a doctor's appointment for Mama and included several other stops.  Our sweet girl just makes us so, so happy!:)

Alexis: Six Months Old!

Yesterday, our darling girl turned six months old!  Half a year!  Time is FLYING!!!

Alexis, here's what you are up to this month:
  • At your doctor's appointment today, you weighed 17 lbs. 4 oz. (75%), you were 26 1/2" long (75%), and your head circumference was 43.5 cm (85%).
  • You are wearing 6-9 month or 9 month clothing.
  • You wear size 3 diapers.
  • You got your first tooth!  A tooth on the lower front poked through just today.  You have been drooling like crazy and chewing on your finger, but the teething process really hasn't been too bad.
  • You also got your first cold this past week.  You had a cough for a day and you've had a pretty runny nose for a few days.  You refused to nurse a couple of times, which was probably due to a combination of not being able to breathe very well and the tooth coming in.  Thankfully, you've been able to sleep pretty well despite all of these things going on at the same time!
  • You have been sleeping from 7:30-8pm to 7:30-8am.  You usually wake up once and want your binky and you also get up once to eat around 5am.  You have been taking one morning nap for 30-45 minutes and one afternoon nap that is around 2 hours.
  • You still love your activity mat and your exersaucer.
  • You are about halfway to sitting up on your own.  You do pretty well for a little while and then you topple over.  You are good at falling gracefully, at least!:)
  • You want to crawl so bad!  You get up on your hands and knees and rock back and forth, but you just don't go anywhere yet.  We are going to be in trouble when you figure it out because you are B-U-S-Y!:)
  • You had your first weekend sleepover away from Mama and Daddy.  You stayed with Grandma and Grandpa Campbell and did pretty well!
  • You started saying da-da!  Your daddy thinks it's about the best thing ever.

Sweet Petunia,

How is it that half of a year has already gone by since you joined our family?  You are the best thing that has ever happened to Daddy and me.  We love you so, so, so much.  Your almost toothless grin is almost more than my heart can handle.  We kiss your sweet cheeks hundreds of times every day and it still doesn't seem like enough.  Every month is so fun in it's own way, but right now we are just loving how you interact with us more and more all the time.  Baby, we can't wait to make more memories with you as time continues to zoom by.  We love you!!!

Swimming, Swimming, Swimming

After we went to the pumpkin patch, we came home for naps and then went swimming at the YMCA!  It was Lex's first time to go swimming.  We thought she would love it, but she didn't really enjoy it too much.  In hindsight, we realized that an extremely busy day + a brand new environment at the pool + cold(ish) water = too much to handle for our sweet girl!  Hopefully we will get to go again another time and maybe she will like it more.

First Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

Last week, Alexis went on her first trip to a pumpkin patch!  Daddy had the day off so we went with the Blair's and Kaitlyn and Tyler to Campbell's Pumpkin Patch in Wabash.  It was a beautiful fall day and we had tons of fun!

Lill liked playing in the bouncy pumpkin!

Oooopsie!

A couple of weeks ago, Alexis had her first real accident.  I would rather forget this, but I feel like I should record it so that someday she doesn't feel bad when something like this happens to one of her babies.:)  Mama was getting ready so that we could run to the store and Lex was laying on our (king-sized) bed.  I left her laying there when I went to the bathroom to get my makeup and on my way back I heard her screaming.  I ran in the bedroom and she was laying on the floor!:(  I picked her up right away and she cried and cried for a few minutes.  She seemed like she was okay, but I felt SO, SO, SO bad!!!  I called Bryan right away and told him what happened.  I think I ended up crying more tears than she did!  We're still not quite sure how she rolled that quickly off the bed, but needless to say we don't leave her there alone anymore.
Here she is after her fall...poor babe!
No worse for the wear...thankfully!!!

Torticollis/Plagiocephaly

Last week, I took Alexis back to see Dr. Landrigan!  She wanted to check Lexi's head to see how her head shape was looking.  At 2 months old, she had been diagnosed with torticollis, which is basically a stiff neck.  She had suggested that we might need to look into physical therapy if it didn't improve on its own.  Fortunately, with some concentrated effort, we were able to get Lex looking left and right with ease.  Her head shape improved over time, but we weren't sure if it had improved enough to be totally unconcerned.  We were SO happy to have Dr. Landrigan tell us that she thinks that Lexi's head is just fine!  Her head is not perfectly shaped, but Dr. Landrigan said that it will continue to improve over time and that once her hair grows in it will be no big deal at all!

Lately (in pics)

Here are some pictures of things that have been going on in our neck of the woods!

Alexis has started looking around the camera at me when I take her picture...so cute!
She got some new boots from Zulily so we had to try them on!  Ha!
Fall is definitely here!  We've got mums and pumpkins on the porch!
Bry takes Alexis to bed every night after I feed her.  She has started grabbing his face like this.  So sweet!
After we went to the apple orchard, we had tons of apples!  I've been making tons of apple desserts.  So far, we've had this apple crisp twice, apple dumpling dessert, caramel apple cheesecake bars, and applesauce!
Peyton loves to hold his baby cousin!  They sat and watched a movie together for quite a while!

Deer Season Kicks Off

Yesterday kicked off Lexi's first official deer season!:)  We went out on Saturday and checked out Bry's deer stand at the back of our property.  Lex got in the deer stand with him...while it was safely at the bottom of the tree!;)  It is so peaceful at the back of our property and it looks awesome right now with the changing of the leaves!
