Fall Break 2010

Last weekend was Fall Break for my school. We took the opportunity to make our annual trip to Brown County! I was off on Friday, but Bryan had to work until mid afternoon. I stayed home and got the house cleaned up and then we headed down! Traffic was TERRIBLE through Indy (we were there right at rush hour) so it took us a little longer than normal to get there. We checked into our hotel in Columbus and headed to Nashville to eat at the Harvest Moon Pizzeria. It was yummy as usual!

On Saturday, we got up and headed to Brown County State Park to do some picture-taking and hiking. We hiked around Trail 7, which is where we got engaged on October 27, 2007...almost 3 years ago! We hit up one more trail and then headed into town to eat lunch. I was STARVING because of all the walking we had been doing and thankfully we got into That Sandwich Place rather quickly. We both had tenderloins and they were yummy, too. We browsed around town for a while and then decided to head back to the hotel for a little rest before dinnertime! Unfortunately, my husband had a little run-in with another (parked) car in the VERY tight parking lot that we were in so we had to take a few minutes to get that worked out! I took a nap at the hotel and then we got dressed for dinner. We went to Holy Cow in Nashville and had a good meal there.

On Sunday, we knew that we wanted to go to the Brown County Winery before we left so we needed to kill a little time until they opened at 11. We went back to the state park and took several pictures together. We stopped by a cute lodge furnishing store and then went to the winery on our way out of town. We started heading home at that point and knew that we were going to go to P.F. Chang's on our way through Indy! We LOVE it! I wish there was one closer to us.

All in all, we had a wonderful weekend together. I always look forward to the slow-paced trip to BC every fall. It's so peaceful and beautiful! Here are some pictures that we took...they are not in order AT ALL, due to the fact that I am a technologically-challenged blogger. Oh well, better out of order than not at all!:)

Our weekend

It's Sunday night. Already. Weekends.go.so.fast! Oh well, it was a good one while it lasted and I'm hoping for a great week ahead!

Friday was the opening day of bow season. My husband was beside himself with excitement! I, on the other hand, was bemoaning my hunting-widow status! Ha! He had a great first time out and we picked up some Los Amigos carry-out for dinner. We watched Marley and Me...it was really cute! I cried more over the loss of their baby than the loss of the dog, although that part was very sad, too.

We woke up Saturday to some VERY dreary weather. It was cold and rainy so Bry decided to stay home rather than go out hunting again. We did a little housework, went to the grocery and Walmart, and grabbed our usual Taco Bell on the way home. We had planned to go see Karen Kingsbury's new movie Like Dandelion Dust and I texted Michele to see if they wanted to join us. They didn't have a babysitter so we decided to send the boys shopping with Shane and Bryan while Michele and I went to see the movie. It was good! I haven't read the book in several years so I don't know how accurate the movie was, but it seemed to follow the story line pretty well. Again, I cried! Michele and I met back up with the boys and we went to Fazoli's for supper. Peyton said, "Me come to yours house for sleepover?" Unfortunately, it was kinda late and we didn't have any jammies for him so we had to postpone until another time!

Today, we went to church and went to Mecates for lunch with Mom and Dad. After lunch, we headed over to Shane and Michele's for Bryan to get his hair cut and for me to get my bangs trimmed. I love that Michele is willing to cut our hair at home...it makes hair care very easy for us! We came home and I took a glorious nap on the couch while Bryan watched some football. He went back out for some more hunting and I made white chicken chili and Amish friendship bread. He just got home and now we're watching the Colts game on the DVR. I'm actually looking forward to 10:00 because Keeping up with the Kardashians is on...for some reason, I love that show!

The Three Billy Goats Gruff

On Wednesday night, my brother-in-law had the misfortune of having to work late. Fortunately for me, I was the babysitter on call! Peyton and Zaya came to my house and we had the time of our lives. I love to get them new books and it just so happened that I had several waiting for them at my house. The Three Billy Goats Gruff was among them. I read the story to them once and then we went back through and looked at the pictures again. Peyton (whose 2 3/4 year old mind is like a steel trap) was going through and telling me all about the "drumpy troll." We decided to act out the story. We put the footrest up on the recliner to make a bridge. Here's the cast of characters for our story:

Meet the littlest goat! This little punkin' was so cute 'trip-trapping' across the bridge!

This precious boy doubled as the troll and the biggest billy goat! He is so full of spunk and loves to act. Yours truly filled in as the middle-sized goat.

I had so much fun with the boys. I can't wait until our next drama night!:)
