15 Weeks

Today I am 15 weeks pregnant!

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 15 Weeks

Size of baby: 4 inches long, about 2 1/2 ounces, about the size of an apple

Gender: Don't know yet! If we had an ultrasound this week, we might be able to find out!;)

Maternity Clothes: I bought a new adjustable waist pair of maternity jeans this week and ordered some dress pants from Old Navy.  It is starting to be a little more difficult for me to keep my belly band pulled down over my unbuttoned pants, so I need to get my collection of maternity pants up to more than 1!:)

Weight gain: 5 pounds...I was very happy to see that that was normal according to my Baby Center email!:)

Belly Button: It is in.

Movement: None yet! Can't wait!!!

Sleep: I've been sleeping pretty good!

Symptoms: Honestly, I feel great!  In fact, some days it would be easy to forget that I am even pregnant!

Cravings: FOOD!  I am just hungry, hungry, hungry this week!

Best Moment This Week: We have our first appointment with my new OB-GYN this week.  I can't wait to hear our baby's precious heartbeat!!!Posted by Picasa

14 Weeks!

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 14 Weeks

Size of baby: 3 1/2 inches and about 1 1/2 ounces...the size of a lemon!

Gender: Don't know yet!  A client of Jenny's at Michele's salon is supposedly very good at guessing baby genders and she guessed that it is a girl!!

Maternity Clothes: I wear one pair of Chanda's maternity pants like it's my job.:)  Most of my other maternity pants are a little big, but my regular pants won't button any more.  I wear my belly band on most days.  Dresses are my friend!  I wear most of my regular shirts...as long as they are long enough to cover the belly band!

Weight gain: 4ish pounds...3 of which have come in the last two weeks!  I've gotten MUCH hungrier in the past few weeks!

Belly Button: It is in.

Movement: None yet!  Can't wait!!!

Sleep: I've been sleeping pretty good!  During the beginning/middle of the first trimester, I got up at least 3 or 4 times every night to pee...now I'm down to one or two!  It feels like sleeping through the night again!:)

Symptoms: First of all, any symptoms I list on here are for posterity's sake.  I do not want to ever sound like I am complaining about this pregnancy!  This week I really feel pretty normal!  I am hungrier than ever...by supper time I am hungry enough to eat a horse.  I've been peeing a lot less lately which is good.  I've also had some constipation.

Cravings: Mostly carbs!  Breadsticks with cheese are my favorite!

Best Moment This Week: Taking Bud on his/her first trip to Brown County!:)  We had a great getaway weekend together! Posted by Picasa

The First Trimester

This is me the day we found out we were pregnant! August 3, 2011

8 weeks, September 4, 2011

10 weeks, September 18, 2011

11 weeks, September 25, 2011

12 weeks, October 3, 2011

13 weeks, October 11, 2011

Highlights from this trimester:
  • I have felt wonderful throughout the first trimester!  For the first several weeks of my pregnancy, I was still taking 2000 mg of Metformin daily for an insulin resistance that was discovered during some pre-pregnancy testing.  During those weeks, I often felt nauseous during the night.  I would wake up in the middle of the night, feel kind of crummy, go back to sleep, and wake up feeling just fine!  I got sick twice in the middle of the night.  Other than that, I have felt 100% normal and have been able to eat like usual!
  • I haven't had any food aversions.  I have been craving breadsticks and lots of carbs!
  • I have gained about 4 pounds...and 3 of those are from the last two weeks!:)  My appetite is starting to increase quite a bit.  I can put some food away at supper time!
  • I have been quite tired.  There have been many nights that I have been asleep by 7:30 or 8:00 and I sleep until 7 the next morning!  I love my sleep!  I think that my energy is slowly starting to return.  I'm sure my husband might appreciate seeing me for more than a couple of hours each evening someday!
  • I have had a little bit of spotting.  It has worried me, but the doctor doesn't seem to think it is a problem.  It happened the first time during week 10 and lasted for about 3 days.  Then, it happened again during week 11 and lasted for about 4 days.  I haven't had any since then so I'm hoping that it is done!
  • It has been so fun to watch my belly start to grow.  I am not quite big enough for most maternity pants, but I have them ready to go for any day now!  I bought a belly band and have been using that with my regular jeans and dress pants.  I LOVE dresses because they are so comfortable and non-restrictive on my belly.  I have been buying some cardigans and jackets that I can wear with t-shirts to dress up outfits.  I'm also on the lookout for scarves that I can wear with comfy long sleeve shirts.  I don't feel bad spending some money on these items since I will be able to wear them when I'm not pregnant, too!
  • We had an ultrasound and heard the heartbeat at 8 weeks, 4 days.  The baby had just started to develop arm buds and leg buds and was just getting rid of the last of its embryonic tail.  This is when we nicknamed the baby "Bud."  The heartbeat was in the 170's.
  • Our next appointment is on October 25th.  We will be meeting our new OB-GYN, Dr. Kennedy.  I'm praying that we just "click!"
  • Sometimes I still can't believe that this is my life.  I am enjoying every single moment of this pregnancy and feel so blessed that God has given us this precious baby!
  • I am so looking forward to the second trimester.  So many people have said that it is the best!  I can't wait to feel the baby move and to find out whether we are having a boy or a girl!
